"DNA makes us related...Life makes us family"
Life in rural Georgia proves anything but easy for Willie LeBeaux, as childhood obstacles continue to present emotional and psychological barriers he simply can’t escape. The effort to start anew drives him to the city that never sleeps, where he hopes to get lost amidst the faceless inhabitants of post-911 New York.
The ebb and flow of living life in the gray areas between a legitimate chosen career and one that inadvertently chooses him is further complicated by Willie’s untimely encounter with NYPD Officer Ernestina Lady. She has sworn to uphold the very law his lifestyle contradicts while struggling with the concept of a life with him.
As if Willie’s attempts to find a balance between his surrogate parents in New York City and the crime family patriarch, who serves as a father figure, aren’t enough, he also has to contend with the ill effects of a tumultuous relationship with his biological father. Another element that pushes the limits of moral boundaries comes in the form of his “closer than comfortable” Cousin Tammy from Georgia, who reasons it’s permissible to kiss and tell.
A path of deceit, secrecy, and scandal spins an intricate web of lies that ultimately puts Willie in opposition of everything in his life that holds value…even himself.
