ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lissett Lopez is a proud daughter of immigrants from Jalisco, Mexico. She was born and raised in Carson, California, and is a product of Los Angeles public schools. She earned her bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and her master's degree from Cal State University, Long Beach. Lissett is deeply connected to her Mexican roots, and enjoys traveling to México as much as she can. She is an elementary school teacher, and finds joy and purpose in educating the minds and hearts of children. Lissett has always had a profound love for culture, literature, and family. Her deepest hope is that this book will ignite a magical spark of the transformative love that our grandmothers give to us, and inspire the reader to embrace and honor the maternal ancestral wisdom that has been passed on to us.
Lupita Maltinez is a native Angelina, by way of Oaxoco, Mexico. She is a dedicated mother, wife, educator, sister and daughter. She earned her bachelor's degree from Cal State University, Los Angeles and her graduate degree in School Counseling from Cal State University, Long Beach. As a school counselor, it is important for her to empower youth into finding their voices. The vision for this book came after she gave birth to her daughter Azul and saw the connection that she had with her grandmothers.
Mel Depaz is an illustrator and muralist born and raised in Compton, CA. Mel has been drawing and painting since she was a kid and grew to explore different mediums. She studied Studio arts at Cerritos College. Mel loves working in color and subjects that give her a nostaglic feeling.
