"There’s nothing more inspiring than meeting the real-life professionals who care deeply about the same thing you do. In this story, marine conservationists are the heroes for the inquisitive and intelligent main character, Charli. Charli is most excited about meeting a real-life marine biologist when her class visits the Bristol Aquarium. Soon, Charli has slipped into an exciting daydream, in which she leads the way in her community with the help of a dedicated marine conservation specialist, helping to save sea turtles from ocean pollution. The enthusiasm of Charli and her class highlights one of the important themes in the story—that STEM is not only important, but also fun, fascinating, and exciting. A wealth of facts about ocean animals, ocean pollution, and how conservation works is woven through the narrative, ensuring readers learn as they follow the story, and they can reinforce that learning with the page of extra resources included at the end of the book. The text uses dialogue and simple sentence structures to support developing literacy, and the organization into short
chapters is perfect for readers transitioning to chapter book reading. Cartoon illustrations break up the text and feature iconic symbols of conservation culture, helping readers feel immersed in Charli’s daydream. For any reader passionate about the sea, Charli's Turtle Triumph: A Marine Biology Adventure is a great reminder that STEM rocks!”—The Children’s Book Review
