DESCRIPTION

On a field trip to the aquarium, Charli and her class meet a marine biologist who rescues sea turtles. Soon, Charli is lost in a turtle daydream, imagining herself as a marine biologist running Sea Turtle Animal Rescue (STAR).

Charli discovers a stranded sea turtle. Emma, a marine veterinarian, helps her rescue the turtle and bring it to STAR. Removing a plastic bag lodged in the sea turtle’s throat, Emma explains that ocean pollution threatens the survival of all sea turtles. Deeply concerned, Charli comes up with creative ideas to help them.

Charli encourages her community to join her effort, convincing them to use less plastic and inviting them to her organized beach clean-ups. A crowd gathers to help at the first scheduled beach clean-up. Before long, a local news team arrives. Charli reveals big news: the rescued sea turtle is about to be released!

After the sea turtle’s release, the setting returns to the aquarium, where Charli proclaims, “We did it!” The gentle poking by a friend eases Charli out of her reverie and back to the present. The aquarium’s marine biologist asks Charli if she’d like to be a marine biologist someday. Charli replies “Anything is possible!”
