Meet Ruthie Rei: Teacher-Turned-Author and Founder of Soulie Rei® Publishing Once known as Ms. Ruthie in the classroom, Ruthie Rei spent nearly a decade as a preschool teacher, where she discovered a key insight: children are most captivated by stories that reflect their own lives. Frustrated by the lack of relatable books, she began creating her own stories for circle time, drawing from her students' experiences—from first-day jitters to navigating big life changes. These heartfelt stories became a hit, inspiring Ruthie to follow her dream of becoming a children's book author. In 2020, she launched Soulie Rei® Publishing, with a mission to help children make sense of their world through books. Her debut title, My Little Ray of Sunshine, is a celebration of motherhood, designed to foster connection between moms and their newborns, while also supporting older siblings in their transition to "big brother" or "big sister." Now, Ruthie Rei continues to craft meaningful stories inspired by her students and her own journey as a mom. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her exploring San Diego with her adventurous toddler and husband, soaking up the joy of simple moments like family picnics and beach days.
