"Racee Acee's ATV Race" is a suspenseful, exciting, and humorous picture book that your child will be excited to read repeatedly."
With her mechanical skills and determination, Acee enters the annual ATV (all-terrain) race with her cat Bub. For those unfamiliar with ATVs, it's a vehicle with specialized treads and/or wheels that allows it to travel on off-road terrain: rocks, snow, and other difficult terrains. It's the ideal vehicle for this particular race, which was happening in the Rocky Mountains.
Before race day, Acee and her sidekick kitty had to ensure the vehicle was in tip-top shape. Children will be in awe of Acee's mechanical skills. As a parent, I would tell young listeners that they should never handle hazardous materials without adult supervision. I mention this because Acee was handling a gasoline can in a working collage.
While I know this is a work of fiction, I think the illustrator (Drew Rose) should've had Acee wearing a helmet when she was testing out the four-wheeler. Again, safety first! During the big race, she was wearing a helmet and so were the other racers, including her riding companion, her cat Bub. Oh my goodness, Bub was adorable in his little purple helmet!
As the big race starts, the excitement heats up. Through mud, water, and rock, Acee and Bub face every obstacle head-on. During several points, Bub was literally hanging on for dear life as Acee climbed higher and higher up the trail. Many tense moments might have you and your listener on the edge of your seat.
As each racer finishes, the suspense only intensifies. Acee and Bub cross the finish line but is their time good enough to have them win the race? You'll have to read Racee Acee's ATV Race and find out for yourself.
I concur with Amazon's recommended reading age of 4 - 8 years, grade level: kindergarten - 3. Even though this is the suggested age bracket, your toddler will love the bright co...

Racee Acee and the Toboggan Race by Debbie Hepner is a fun picture book for young children. Friends Acee, Mia, Riley, and Tobias are preparing their toboggan for the big annual race. After testing their toboggan, they all agree that it needs to go faster. They sit and ponder as to what they can use to speed it up. They try bacon grease, wax, and even melted crayons. After each test run, they evaluate which of their options worked the best. Will it be enough to win them the race, and what was it that made their toboggan go extra fast? Find out in this adventurous tale.
Racee Acee and the Toboggan Race was a pleasure to read. I enjoyed every page of this wonderful book by the talented Debbie Hepner. She has created a simple yet enormously entertaining story that children are going to love and learn from and I never once lost interest. It teaches important life lessons that I believe to be vital for children's upbringing. The story is written in plain language to allow children to follow along easily and the illustrations by Hayley Moore are amusing, imaginative, and professional. So if you are looking for a boredom breaker or a good book to read before your child’s bedtime, then I highly recommend this one. I believe this is only one of her creations, so there is plenty more enjoyment to be had. Keep up the great work, Debbie and Hayley. I look forward to seeing more from you soon.
