DESCRIPTION

She uses reds, yellows, greens, and blues to make herself heard. What will this young critter do when all her tints are taken?

Timid Chameleon feels sad. She's worried her friends don't appreciate her or pay attention when she says, "No." And when they take all her colors without giving them back, the poor thing loses her ability to express herself!

Now this little lizard that communicates with her colors is frustrated, because she can't tell anyone how she feels. And with the jungle party coming up fast, she and her friend Flamingo struggle with the right words to ask for her beautiful rainbow hues to be returned.

Can Chameleon find her voice and stand up for what she wants?

This delightful parable shows kids how to be assertive from an early age. It's a helpful companion resource to Habit 8 of the "Leader in Me" program, showing kids how to balance their own needs with those of friends.

The Colorless Chameleon is a gorgeously illustrated children's picture book, great for kindergartners and up, and their teachers. If you or your child likes positive lessons, cute creatures, and entertaining adventures, then you'll adore this forest-full of fun by Hayley Irvin, Rachel Bostick, and Cassidy Reynolds.

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

"A lizard stands up for herself in this picture book. A creative, wonderfully illustrated tale emphasizing a valuable theme." - Kirkus
"The Colorless Chameleon, written by Rachel Bostick and Hayley Irvin, and illustrated by Samantha Jo Phan, is a colorful children's picturebook. The Colorless Chameleon...is cleverly written in a way so that children will understand Chameleon and relate to her problem (even some adults may relate). It's important for kids to learn how to use their words to make themselves understood and this book teaches that lesson in a simple and fun way. Samantha Jo Phan's lovely illustrations are well done and practically tell the story on their own. The ColorlessChameleon...is an adorable children's book with an important message." - IndieReader

"Even though this is a simple picture book, it instills the important message that children must use their words to be heard and understood. Heaven knows that gaining the courage and clarity of purpose to confront an uncomfortable situation and speak up when needed is a difficult undertaking even for many adults. So imagine how intimidating a task this could be for young children, and of course, a little chameleon. The writing is clever and simple, and allows children to relate to Chameleon's dilemma. Also, the vivid illustrations by Samantha Jo Phan help children engage with the story and easily follow its theme." - BookTrib
