DESCRIPTION

Why Plant Power? Because carbon converters are cool, quirky, & critical!

Problems are popping up like weeds for Winx Muller. His sister, Marta, is wilting from a rare illness. His great-aunt’s prickly input is making Winx itch with confusion. And his uprooted parents are still missing.

Winx thinks more time travel will prune back his trouble. But the new crop of stinky Timeless Toe Covers are late bloomers that easily go to seed. Winx’s woes only grow as he faces hangry tribal islanders, megafauna madness, a very grumpy gardener, international disease-seeking geniuses, the droning of a translucent composer, and a toga-clad man with familiar footwear who speaks only Greek.

Even worse, as Winx tests theories to get better at time traveling he can’t stop trampling the rules. So, of course, the thorny time-space continuum keeps poking and scratching him at every turn.

Can Winx find the flora to fix his sister? Figure out if Aunt Lena’s hints are fertile or full of it? Or is Winx just too much of a lost ball in high weeds to harvest what he needs to save his parents?

This middle grade time travel adventure sprouted from the what if, worry, and wow of 'Sidewalk Flowers,' 'The Lorax,' and 'The Great Kapok Tree.' Kids will enjoy the wild ride while adults will appreciate the tone rooted deeply in the 'here & now' of the intended reader's age-related aspirations. The boundaries of space and time are pushed on most every page, all within the realm of nurturing a healthy middle grade mentality.

Parents will like how well Winx and older sister Marta intertwine - with enough spice and silliness to keep it real. Educators and other curious folk can harvest the science and history that both creeps and leaps through each chapter, though never at the cost of good storytelling. Cross-curricular explorations and lesson guides are available.

This is Book 2 of the Stinky Socks Adventure series. Look for 'Winx Thinks - Dinosaurs!...
