Dogs rule and doubts drool in this delightfully captivating picture book by Matthew Gillmann. Lithe and supple, the story follows a Dalmatian dynamo, Guinness, as she joins her human for Doggie Day at school. Things go awry initially. But with a little help from some new friends, Guinness finds out that schoolās not so bad after all. In fact, it may even be fun!
A Dalmatian with a heart of gold, Guinness joins her human, Dottie, for Doggie Day at Tune Town School. But Guinness may be a bit too rambunctious to fit into a classroom routine. Sheās so excited, she crashes into an easel. When the teacher asks questions, Guinness knows the answers. Unfortunately, āwoofā isnāt the right answer.
Exiled to the back corner of the classroom by the end of the day, our spotted pal starts wondering if maybe coming to school with Dottie wasnāt such a great idea after all. Can some new friends help Guinness change her mind?
Guinnessā day starts looking up when she meets an exchange student from Chile whoās a wrestler. Then she takes a dip in the swimming pool with Dottieās friend Daisy. With the help of another friend named Coltrane, Guinness soon discovers that sheās a natural at football and cheerleading, too. Who knew?
Packed with wit and whimsy, Guinness is bright, upbeat, and positive. Heartwarming and heartfelt, itās story-telling at its finest. Besides. Sharing a school day with a loveable dog named āGuinnessā? Well. Who can resist that?
Lively and quick, this book will draw young readers in from page one and keep them turning pages until the very end. Because you never know what Guinness will do next! The illustrations are top-notch! For example, the illustrations of Guinness joining the water ballet class and hamming it up at the school dance are hysterical! Gentle lessons about friendship and kindness and how to have fun at school are included.

Booklife Review
The fun second entry in Gillmannās Guinness the Good Girl series sees lovable Dalmatian Guinness headed to Tune Town School with her owner, Dottie. Only top students are allowed to take part in Doggie Day at school, and Dottie just happens to be the sole top student who owns a dogāmaking Guinness just about as lucky as can be. Her day in class starts out a little rough when she races in and runs smack into the teacherās presentation board, but before long Guinness is winning hearts and making the best of friends.
Young pet lovers will relish Guinnessās chance to experience school just like a human, and Penny Weberās entertaining illustrations showcase her doing just that: from raising her paw in class to donning a swim cap for water ballet in the pool, Guinnessās facial expressions and lively actions perfectly mimic a dogās personality. Her antics throughout the day are larger-than-life, but Dottie takes it all in stride, allowing Guinness the chance to stay true to her Dalmatian self while the pair revel in their school playtime together. When Chilean exchange student Maximo informs Dottie heās here to āwrestle as many Americans as I can,ā Guinness promptly accepts the challenge, pinning a laughing Maximo to the ground. Later, school football star Coltrane gets his own help from Guinness to score a touchdown during the eveningās game.
Such amusing action abounds, keeping Guinnessāand readersāprimed for the next adventure. Guinnessās overeager, playful temperament may get her into trouble from time to time (especially when she tries to join Dottieās friendās cheerleading squad on the field), but she somehow always ends up on top, even in the most dire of situations. As Guinness learns, āthe show [must] go on,ā and thereās no better way to spend the day than rollicking with your furry best friend.
