ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Debbie Regan Cleveland is a retired non-profit Executive Director, blogger, author, freelance writer, volunteer, historian, and collector of vintage photos and ephemera. Writing includes cover, feature, auction and book reviews especially in the fields of period fashion, antiques, women's history. Co-founder of the first New England vintage clothing show & sale and complementary newsletter, The Vintage Gazette. She publishes through her company, Grandmother's Trunk Press. 50plusses is her blog. Debbie has been a published author beginning in high school when she was selected to be the student reporter for an area Massachusetts newspaper, The Lowell Sun. She was a columnist for her college newspaper, and just about everywhere she was employed, she used her writing skills in newsletters and marketing pieces. Grandmother’s Trunk Press, her company, grew out of Grandmother’s Trunk, her consignment shop full of antiques, collectibles, unique items, and vintage clothing. Debbie published brochures and booklets as part of promoting the shop. Her free-lance career started when she was invited to write feature articles for antiques trade periodicals. How Shadowchaser Got His Name: A Cat Tale is Debbie's first children's book. It grew out of family experiences and she worked on it off and on for 34 years. A catalyst for finishing it was finding her illustrator, who was her intern while she was the Executive Director of the Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni. A unique aspect of the book is that the inspiration took place in Framingham, Massachusetts and that both the author and illustrator are Framingham State University graduates.
